Contaminant data from Umhvørvisstovan

Umhvørvisstovan (The Environment Agency, US) runs monitoring of environmental pollutants on a regular basis. The monitoring is focussed on long-range transported pollutants in wild populations of mammals, fish and birds and is done according to the program outlines of OSPAR Coordinated Environmental Monitoring Programme and the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme, AMAP. The US holds an environmental specimen bank where frozen samples originating from the Faroese marine, terrrestrial and freshwater compartments are held in store. The contents of the bank is available for scientific purposes upon request.
